loneliness is cold
airport goodbyes,
teary-eyed parting words
don’t forget your dad’s birthday
and remember to feed the cats
will you miss me?
wanting to be reassured
and to reassure.
muzak in the background
while you smile
and try not to let them
see the tears in your eyes,
goodbye,
we say
and part.

I Believe in love but
without conditions;
I believe that two people can
share it, but only without inhibitions;
The greatest joy is felt
when mind and spirit touch,
because physical attraction
is pleasant, but
isn’t good for much;
after all has been
said and done,
physical feelings fade away
and if mind and spirit
have not met,
there’s nothing left to say.

Love is just another word for pain
it means laughter, and hurt,
and crying in the rain.
It stands for hope, and leads to loss
and it falls for anything.
It causes broke hearts
but also brings you bliss
It makes it worth the suffering
and all the emptiness.
It brings you laughter, tears and joy
it brings a lot of grief
but no matter what it does to you
it always seems too brief.
Is the pleasure of love
really worth all of the sorrow it brings?

Shining Bright
lacksidaisical whimsy flight
o’er treetops and through sunshine rays
poetry in motion, undying devotion
and feeling so utterly happy
grinning ear to ear through
pleasant waking dreams;
wondering, if you pinch,
will they be gone?
Each day, to be taken as it comes
no more self-torture is allowed
flitting between the pure innocent
and the other?
all things in time, even decisions!

When the tide nibbles at my toes
and the salty breeze
brushes its fingers through my hair
and whips my skirt around my ankles
I feel that all is right in the world
I wish that the sun would never stop shining
I wish I could sit here and watch the waves crash forever
Watch the gulls circle all day long
and the shoreline showly recess
watch the water creep up
until there is no beach
just me and the lake
But time closes in on me
the sun begins to sink
the breeze grows cooler
and blows the sun down to where
blue meets blue
alas, I must go
too soon,
far, far too soon

fastest tide
sweeping away
holds me
under
I drown
in your depths
cannot breathe
nor do i want to
then rise above
into,
the wind
carries me
to this
i cannot sleep.

insecurity and strangulation;
self-doubt chokes
ability to share with others, lost
replaced with the feeling
that I am sorely lacking
in all respects.
How do I “become”
good enough and
lose myself in normalcy?
where do you buy confidence?
can I get a bushel please,
and a side order of consistency
I don’t like it
when the world changes
before my eyes
I am afraid to walk, speak
make eye contact,
there is no stability in the universe I live in;
or maybe the world is constant,
and I am ever-changing?
