Alone in a crowded room, I talk to myself
and wonder how I came to be here.
Alone in a crowded room,
The noisy silence is peacefully offensive
But I feel at ease with myself,
at least for awhile.

Alone in a crowded room, the stranger I see is me
And I’m looking in a mirror that reflects from my soul
But I cannot really see.

Alone in a crowded room
the voices I hear are my own confused thoughts
Interrupting and contradicting one another.

And alone in the crowded room that is my life
I feel strangely out of place
like I am the outsider and
enemy forces have taken me over.
I am a solitary soldier in the war called life.

Alone in a crowded room, I am isolated
from myself.
