Girls are like apples…

Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don’t want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they’re amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who’s brave enough

to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

I’m afraid you need to man up a bit girl. First of all you manage to be sexist and insult both sexes in one go. Then you seem to need reminding that your knight in shining armour is not going to show up. Girls like you usually end up with a control-freak that will tie you to the sink.
My advice is come down to the ground and start having some fun. Like the rest of us.

Dear crazy passive-aggressive angry poem stalker guy or girl who has written several strange / angry comments on this poem:

This poem is by some anonymous teenager who may or may not really be named megan, but that’s who it was attributed to when the person forwarded it on to me… In other words – who are you even talking to? I don’t know what you’re so angry about and what your real problem is, but seriously… the original writer of this poem will probably never see your angry little rants on my website. It’s pretty futile to keep coming back over and over and complaining. Who are you complaining to? Even if she does come back sometime and read your mean little comments, what’s it going to take to make you happy? Do you want her to go back and revise her poem? Either way, what have you really accomplished by anonymously bullying some teenage girl who is probably long grown up by now?

The purpose of my blog is to give ALL voices in poetry a chance to speak and be heard. This means that even if some of the poems are a little cheesy, or even if I don’t necessarily agree with the poem, if someone sends it to me and asks me to post it, I will post it. Within reason of course.

Every single poem ever written does not appeal to every single visitor. You are not the target audience of this poem and should move on to something that you do enjoy, since you clearly do not enjoy this poem at all.

As a grown adult myself, who has had enough experience in life to cynically declare that there are no prince charmings, no fairy tale endings… yes, I feel sorry for teenage girls who have not found this out yet. Their hearts will be broken again and again until they learn.

However, while they are still young and learning how the world works, they are entitled to whatever dreams and hopes and wishes that they have – who are you to try to tell someone else what to dream, what to wish, what to hope? The world will break their hearts and make them cynical soon enough. It happens to everyone eventually. As you yourself no doubt already know. But why take the time out of your day to point it out and try to hurry it along? Do you really want your legacy to be picking on kids on the internet? You are too scared to put your real name and email address because you KNOW it’s wrong.

Have you considered seeing a therapist to deal with your anger and whatever other emotions or issues you have going on in your life? It’s OK to ask for help. It’s not OK to be an angry internet troll and take out your personal problems on “the internet”… isn’t there some better use of your time, effort and energy? Of COURSE there is. Now, go out and get some sunshine, call a friend, get out of your house and off the internet for awhile…

Dear original poet: if you ever come across this page, feel free to comment and tell us more about yourself and if you in fact, got “tied to the sink” as angry troll guy predicted. I’m kind of curious as to what became of you myself. :)
