The Rules, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl
Lest the greater evil win out in the end,
You and I, our ways must mend
To live like this is all a game
Where emptiness replaces pain
We live and die, what do they care?
It’s all a game, and nothing’s fair.
If you were to disappear, or to die right now
would anyone even care why, or how?
The world could come to an end today,
If you could live your live over, would you live it this way?
If you say no, you’re halfway there,
but would you really change? Would you even care?
We live our lives day to day
and all of it’s a game we play
We twist the rules as we play the game
But all the rules remain the same.
