Emily Dickinson – Why do they shut me out of heaven?
Why — do they shut me out of Heaven?
Did I sing — too loud?
But — I can sing a little “Minor,”
Timid as a Bird!
Wouldn’t the angels try me —
Just — once more —
Just — see — if I troubled them
But don’t — shut the door,!
Oh, if I — were the Gentlemen
In the “White Robes”
And they — were the little Hand — that knocked —
Could –I forbid?
Hope is a subtle Glutton — by Emily Dickinson
Hope is a subtle Glutton —
He feeds upon the Fair —
And yet — inspected closely
What Abstinence is there —
His is the Halcyon Table —
That never seats but One —

An imperial affliction
Sent us of the Air –
When it comes, the Landscape listens –
Shadows – hold their breath –
When it goes, ’tis like the Distance
On the look of Death –
I’m wife – Emily Dickinson
I’m wife; I ’ve finished that,
That other state;
I ’m Czar, I ’m woman now:
It ’s safer so.
How odd the girl’s life looks
Behind this soft eclipse!
I think that earth seems so
To those in heaven now.
This being comfort, then
That other kind was pain;
But why compare?
I ’m wife! stop there!
