Sorrow, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Sorrow, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Silently, I weep for you.
A teardrop falls
onto my pillow, for
another heartbreak at your hands.
Today is only one of the many times
that you have disappointed me.
A little sigh escapes my lips
my heart is broken, never will it mend.
A lonely little tear falls, unnoticed,
into an ocean of the sorrow that you have caused;
into the sea of sadness that I
have been drowning in
since I met you.
One lonely teardrop,
alone like me
when cry is all I can do
for the feeling I get when I look at you
one little teardrop that no one sees
falls softly like rain from a cloudy sky,
one little teardrop
that is my answer to your goodbye
falls from the crack in my heart
to mourn the loss of you.

The Rules, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Lest the greater evil win out in the end,
You and I, our ways must mend
To live like this is all a game
Where emptiness replaces pain
We live and die, what do they care?
It’s all a game, and nothing’s fair.
If you were to disappear, or to die right now
would anyone even care why, or how?
The world could come to an end today,
If you could live your live over, would you live it this way?
If you say no, you’re halfway there,
but would you really change? Would you even care?
We live our lives day to day
and all of it’s a game we play
We twist the rules as we play the game
But all the rules remain the same.

Moonlight Dance, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Moonlight Dance, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

(also available in Spanish!)

Dancing in the moonlight
a shadow of me
I close my eyes
to the endless sea
I escape from my body
I set myself free
and without earthly restriction
I am free to be.
Nighttime’s shades of light & dark
flicker with the breeze
and the song of the evening calls to me sweetly
as, weeping, I fall to my knees.
While I embrace your countenance
the trees halt for a moment
in their mad, whirling dance
and the earth seems at a standstill
in its’ mighty, frozen stance.
Then, my happiness is colored black
when I am wrenched from your embrace
and the wind carries me on broken wings
pulling me from this place.
Though unwilling to leave you behind
I begin to fade away
It breaks my heart to leave you but
I know I cannot stay.
My time has now come
I must kiss your lips goodbye
while another longing, bitter tear
falls from the crumbling sky.

Alone, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Alone in my mind,
I search for myself
seemingly never to find.
Alone with past thoughts and
the feelings they brought
I am hidden from prying eyes.
Alone with my fears
I can shed lonely tears
or enjoy the silence
and waste some time.
While seeking myself,
I am often sidetracked
by what I never imagine I’ll find.
Alone in the space of
my own private place
I can reflect on my life and
rebuild shattered dreams.
I have time to imagine and
time to cry;
I am free to be truthful or
free to deny;
there is no one to judge me,
there is only myself,
unafraid to be me.

Peace, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Peace, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Lonely thoughts in my mind
Paint pictures in the sand
of another place I’d rather be,
in an imaginary land.

It’s a land of peace and a land of love,
and “war” is a word that’s never heard
there’s no hate, or greed, or prejudice
in my imaginary land.

There’s no pain, suffering, sadness, or sorrow
No one feels lonely, or dreads tomorrow
No child cries out in the night
There is never a reason to fight
No one gets sick, and no one dies
Peace is selling, and everyone buys.

To keep you safe against all danger,
protect you from all hate and anger,
watch over you while you’re asleep
and never feel you’ve gone too deep

No bad dreams will wake you, ever
I’ll keep you warm and safe forever
to chase away bad dreams and fears
until the light of day draws near
but even after night has gone
I’ll still protect you with my song

Airport Goodbyes, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

Airport Goodbyes, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

airplane

loneliness is cold
airport goodbyes,
teary-eyed parting words
don’t forget your dad’s birthday
and remember to feed the cats
will you miss me?
wanting to be reassured
and to reassure.
muzak in the background
while you smile
and try not to let them
see the tears in your eyes,
goodbye,
we say
and part.

My Lifeline, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

My Lifeline, an original poem by PoetryGrrrl

This was something that I wrote for a class assignment when I was in the 5th grade. Even then, apparently, I was not a conformist. I wonder what my teacher thought of this. I don’t even know what grade I got. I hope it was an A. I think it was pretty good for a kid…

My Lifeline
==
My lifeline
is a soft breeze
pushing me gently
out of this world

taking me from boredom
from rules and restrictions
that tell me what to do
and what to think

It is a place where I am alone
no one can disturb me
No rules. Only freedom.
